The Chief of Operations of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Pentagon, General Alexus G. Grynkewich, has highlighted the importance of the Northern Command's mission to protect the sovereignty of the United States. In this context, the USS Gravely ship will join operations to intercept drugs and other objects directed at the country, closely collaborating with the United States Coast Guard.

According to General Gregory M. Guillot, a senior Northcom officer, this step represents a significant advancement in the government's efforts to secure the southern border and maintain the territorial integrity of the country. Furthermore, Sean Parnell, Pentagon spokesperson, underscored the Department of Defense's commitment to defending the homeland and the territorial sovereignty of the United States, highlighting the 93% reduction in illegal border crossings as a result of ongoing operations.

The USS Gravely, a guided missile destroyer of the Arleigh Burke class, arrived at the port of Veracruz last Friday, where it was welcomed by authorities from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar). Deployed by the United States Northern Command, this ship contributes to border security tasks in the Gulf of Mexico region.

Despite the arrival of this advanced military vessel, Mexican authorities have not provided official information regarding it. The strategic importance of controlling territorial waters alongside land surveillance has been emphasized by the Pentagon spokesperson, stating that the deployment of the USS Gravely in the region directly supports the interests of the United States.
