The representative of the White House confirmed that President Donald Trump is still discussing the issue of Jerome Powell's reappointment as Chairman of the Federal Reserve System.
Powell took office as Chairman of the FRS in February 2018. It was suggested that his term would end in February 2022, but Trump could renominate him for a second term.
Trump criticized Powell for his policy of raising interest rates, but then started praising him for lowering rates to support the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A decision on the possible extension of Powell's full term has not yet been finalized.
