Trump Orders Lethal Military Action Against Houthis

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced today Saturday that he has ordered the U.S. military to carry out a "lethal and powerful military action" against Houthi militants in Yemen. Trump accused the group of carrying out a series of violent acts, including piracy, against ships, planes, and drones from the United States and other nations. In a statement on the Truth Social network, the president stated that further attacks by the Houthis against U.S. ships will not be tolerated and that overwhelming lethal force will be employed until the established objective is achieved.

"We will use overwhelming lethal force until we have achieved our goal," Trump expressed.

According to the newspaper The Washington Post, U.S. warships and fighter jets have carried out strikes in various parts of Yemen, focusing particularly on radars, air defense sites, and drone launch areas. A U.S. defense official quoted by the outlet indicated that this operation marks the beginning of a campaign against the military capabilities of the Houthis, following the attacks carried out by the group against merchant ships and U.S. forces in the region.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration reclassified the Houthis as a "foreign terrorist organization."
