The President of the United States, Donald Trump, shared early on Tuesday that he intends to buy a new Tesla as a show of support and confidence in Elon Musk. Trump praised Musk's work at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), highlighting his positive contribution to the country while criticizing what he called 'the Radical Left Lunatics' for attempting to boycott Tesla with attacks. In his post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his decision to acquire a brand new Tesla as a gesture towards Musk.
In response, Elon Musk reposted Trump's message on X, thanking the president for his support. Trump's statement comes amid reports indicating an increase in acts of boycott and vandalism against Tesla vehicles in various parts of the United States. A recent example is the case of a woman arrested in Colorado for throwing a Molotov cocktail at a Tesla cyber truck parked in front of a dealership, according to local police reports.
The news of Trump's intention to purchase a Tesla comes after a 15.43% drop in Tesla's stock value the previous day, in line with the negative performance of other major companies, marking the worst day for Nasdaq since 2022.
