Elon Musk Calls for US to Leave NATO

Elon Musk suggests that the US should withdraw from NATO to stop paying for Europe's defense. He claims sanctions on top Ukrainian oligarchs could immediately end the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Elon Musk Calls for US to Leave NATO

Billionaire Elon Musk, advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), spoke out in favor of the United States leaving NATO to avoid bearing the costs of Europe's defense. In a message on the social network X, which he owns, Musk responded to a user who called for the U.S. to exit NATO amid a march for International Women's Day in Paris.

In his post, Musk stated that "it makes no sense for the United States to pay for Europe's defense" and added that the key to the puzzle is to leave NATO. Additionally, in another message, Musk mentioned the conflict in Ukraine and Russia, suggesting that imposing sanctions on the top ten Ukrainian oligarchs, especially those with mansions in Monaco, could immediately stop the conflict.

The businessman, currently regarded as the richest person in the world with an estimated fortune of about $400 billion, reinforced his stance in favor of the United States separating from NATO. These statements are set against a backdrop of debate about the participation and costs of European defense borne by the United States, which Musk has pointed out as being nonsensical in the current situation.
