Public Opinion on Trump Divided After First Month

During the first month of Donald Trump's presidency, public opinion in the United States was divided and increasingly negative toward the president. According to the polling aggregator FiveThirtyEight, Trump started his term with a net favorable percentage of 8 points. However, by February 27, the average approval rating was 48% and disapproval was 47%, showing only a positive point of difference.

According to polls, Trump did not experience a "honeymoon" in his first month in office and the small margin of favor with which he began has almost evaporated. Even some polls like the Reuters-Ipsos survey show a net negative balance, with 44% approval and 50% disapproval. Regarding international opinion, countries like Hungary and Poland were more favorable toward the American president.

A poll last November revealed that in India, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, and Turkey, there were majorities above 50% who rated Trump’s return as "good" for the United States. Furthermore, a survey in the United Kingdom showed a majority unfavorable, while in the European Union, opinions were divided.

Despite the predominant negative opinion in Western Europe, some Eastern European countries expressed a somewhat more favorable opinion of Trump. In contrast, Elon Musk registered a mostly negative image in the United States. However, the proposal to "eliminate fraud and waste in the government" generated majority support according to an official survey, suggesting that this stance could have popular backing. It will be interesting to follow the polls on Donald Trump to see how his image evolves on the national and international stage and whether this influences his actions as president.
