US House Passes Budget Draft to Support Trump Agenda

The US House of Representatives approved a budget draft aimed at implementing President Trump's agenda, including major tax cuts and spending reductions. The proposal, receiving a narrow vote of 217 to 215, faces criticism from Democrats for potential cuts to social programs like Medicaid.

US House Passes Budget Draft to Support Trump Agenda

Last night, the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress voted in favor of the budget proposal, which is primarily oriented towards the implementation of the actions of President Donald Trump on all points, starting from immigration and ending with tax reforms and significant cuts in government expenditures. The resolution was passed by 217 members of the House, against 215; surprisingly, no Republican representative crossed over to the side of the Democrats in the vote against.

The adopted resolution presumes federal budget expenditures for 2025 with a tax reduction totaling $4.5 trillion and a reduction in expenditures of more than $1.5 trillion. Democrats express concern that these measures will lead to significant cuts in social security programs, including the Medicaid program, which provides for American families with low income.

However, Republicans consider the decision necessary for funding Trump’s program. House Speaker Mike Johnson noted: "Thanks to the members of the House of Representatives, Congress as a whole has become closer to the full implementation of Trump’s program, based on the principle of 'America First', and not just partially."

The adoption of the resolution was far from simple, since Johnson, a Trump ally, spent days convincing members of his party to support the project. Some Republicans deemed the proposed measures for reducing expenditures insufficient, while others insisted on the need to control the increasing national debt of the U.S. or advocated for the untested influences on the 'Medicaid' program.
