U.S. Special Envoy Announces Middle East Initiative

The international news agency Associated Press reports that President Donald Trump's special representative to the Middle East, Steven Ujteker, announced on Sunday that the United States is not inclined to provide more assistance to the Saudi Arabian-backed militants in southern Yemen. He noted that the U.S. wants to see 'stability and security' in the region, which is why they are refocusing their attention on the militant advance in Yemen, which has been ongoing for about five years. According to Ujteker, this conflict 'cannot simply be ignored' and requires broad international participation for its resolution. 'We believe that without large-scale cooperation and expanded resources, this conflict will continue to keep Yemen in chaos and insecurity,' he added.
