The U.S. National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, has warned Mexican cartels about joint operations with the military and border police to secure the border with the United States. During a television interview, Waltz stated that the U.S. is ready to combat the cartels and referred to the fight against organized crime as a "hell."
In an effort to reinforce the stance against drug trafficking, the Trump administration has taken strong measures with the support of Mexico. Waltz recently revealed that the U.S. is intensifying its actions against the cartels and is focusing on combating fentanyl trafficking, which has resulted in an increase in operations and arrests of criminals since early February.
Waltz's claims are backed by new mandates issued by President Donald Trump, who designated six Mexican cartels and two Latin American criminal groups as "terrorist organizations." These measures have also impacted the situation of migrants, leading to numerous deportations since January.
Waltz praised the efforts of Mexico's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, for deploying 10,000 members of the National Guard and the Mexican Army to the northern border as part of coordinated actions to strengthen security in the border area and stop the flow of drugs. Cooperation between the two countries is presented as a key measure in the fight against organized crime and the protection of borders.
