Trump Closes Border to Migrants Amid Tensions

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, proudly announced that, through pressures and executive orders, he managed to close the border with Mexico to migrants and drugs in a record time of two weeks. In response to this measure, the Mexican Foreign Minister, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, sent a diplomatic note to the United States embassy emphasizing that Mexico will receive all Mexican citizens who wish to return.

Trump stated in the Oval Office that the border is closed and that only individuals deemed 'good' will be allowed entry. Although he emphasized that the situation at the border will remain this way, he indicated that it will be easier for individuals who meet the established requirements to enter.

Minister De la Fuente assured that they will be attentive to the actions taken by the U.S. government and that those Mexicans wishing to return can do so under the best conditions. De la Fuente also categorically dismissed that Mexican citizens would be sent to the Guantanamo naval base, which, according to the Trump Administration, will become a detention center for undocumented immigrants.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry has made it clear that no Mexican citizen will be sent to Guantanamo under any circumstances and that their reception in Mexico will be guaranteed in the event of deportations from the United States. This message was reiterated by De la Fuente in various statements, highlighting the firm stance of the Mexican government on this situation.
