The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed a series of executive orders with the purpose of implementing modifications in the country's Armed Forces. One of the decisions made includes the prohibition of transgender members. According to the president, military excellence should not be affected by political agendas or ideologies harmful to the cohesion of the unit.
In his statements, Trump expressed his concern about the influence of a radical gender ideology in the Armed Forces, which, in his opinion, does not meet the essential requirements of military service, such as physical and mental health. The president argued that a gender identity that differs from a person's biological sex does not meet the demanding standards necessary for service, as it goes against a soldier's commitment to an honorable and disciplined way of life.
In line with this measure, Trump recently stated that the official policy of his government will be to recognize only two genders, male and female. Through a decree titled "Defend Women from the Extremism of Gender Ideology and Restore Biological Truth in the Federal Government," it is established that sexes are unchangeable and are based on an immutable biological reality. Moreover, the term 'gender' will no longer be used to refer to 'sex,' as the latter represents the unalterable biological classification of an individual.
