Ex-Disney Employee Accused of Hacking Menus

The company Disney and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida declined to comment on a filed complaint. According to the complaint, a former Disney employee allegedly hacked the company's servers after being fired, altering the menus of the restaurants. The complaint, filed in Florida, claims that the employee falsified information about allergens and used inappropriate language in the menus.

The complaint indicates that the employee, identified as Michael Scheuer, had access to Disney's secure internal servers while working as a menu production manager. After being fired for misconduct, Scheuer allegedly repeatedly hacked the servers, manipulating the information in the menus. These changes compromised public health and safety, including erroneous information about allergens that could be dangerous for people with allergies.

Despite the allegations, Scheuer denied any wrongdoing and accused Disney of trying to frame him due to his termination, claiming that the company was concerned about his exit conditions. The suspect's lawyer stated that the allegations acknowledged that no one was injured as a result of the alterations in the menus.

Scheuer's lawyer claimed that his client has a mental disability and suffered a panic attack at work, which led to a suspension and ultimately his dismissal. After being fired, Scheuer filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, considering that Disney did not satisfactorily respond to his questions regarding the termination of his employment.
