US Ends 2025 with Shocking Gun Violence Statistics

The United States closed the year 2025 with shocking statistics regarding gun violence. According to a preliminary report published this Thursday by the organization Gun Violence Archive (GVA), at least 40,000 people were shot during the year, resulting in more than 14,600 deaths and 26,100 injuries. The report highlights a worrying impact on the child population, with 224 children under the age of 11 dying. The report notes that the country recorded 407 mass shootings—incidents with at least four victims—throughout the year. However, citing CDC data, the GVA estimated that more than 24,000 people took their own lives using firearms in 2025. In total, adding deaths from attacks and suicides, the number of gun-related deaths in the United States exceeded 38,000 victims, consolidating armed violence as one of the most persistent health and security challenges for the current administration. While the data shows a sustained decrease since the peak reached in 2021, the frequency of attacks remains critical: on average, last year 110 people were shot each day in incidents ranging from homicides and accidental shootings to cases of self-defense. A grim aspect of the report is the exclusion of suicides from the main victim count.
