
The successful television series "The Sopranos" centers on Tony Soprano, one of the most imposing mafia bosses in New Jersey. Considered one of the greatest shows of all time, the series features a main cast that includes James Gandolfini, Michael Imperioli, Drea de Matteo, Lorraine Bracco, and Tony Sirico, among others. This Sunday, May 4, it was announced that one of the actors who participated in the fifth season of the series has passed away.
Charley Scalies, known for his work in series such as "The Wire" and "The Sopranos," died at the age of 84 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. His daughter confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter, stating that the actor died in a nursing center in Phoenixville where he was receiving care. He is survived by his wife Angeline, with whom he was married for 62 years, as well as his children Chuck, Angeline, Tony, Christa, and Anne Marie, and his grandchildren.
In addition to his participation in "The Sopranos" and "The Wire," Charley Scalies also had roles in movies such as "Liberty Heights" and made guest appearances in series such as "Law & Order," "Law & Order: SVU," and "Cold Case." He also wrote a script titled "It Takes Balls," inspired by his father’s pool hall.
