The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, warned football fans that they will have to leave the country once the FIFA World Cup 2026 ends, which will be held jointly with Canada and Mexico. Vance emphasized that the intention is for people to enjoy the sporting event, but once it concludes, they must return to their homes.
During a joint working meeting to anticipate preparations for next year's football World Cup, attended by Donald Trump, Gianni Infantino, Kristi Noem, and Sean Duffy, the importance of enforcing this measure was discussed. Trump also mentioned that Russia's presence at the World Cup could be an incentive to resolve conflicts such as the war in Ukraine.
The 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, will be the first to feature 48 participating teams and will be distributed across different venues. Mexico will host a total of thirteen matches, including the opening at the Azteca Stadium. Afterwards, the quarter-finals and the final will be held in the United States, concluding at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. This approach of multiple venues aims to make the event a true global and inclusive celebration.
