Spotify launched a new Partner Program that is divided into two components: premium video revenue and ads. This program was designed for creators to earn income based on video consumption by Spotify Premium subscribers. The more interactions and views a video receives, the more reward creators will get.
These updates will be implemented starting January 2025 in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. Although there has been no official announcement for Mexico, changes are expected to arrive in the country soon. Spotify plans to offer a superior experience through a premium video offering without advertising interruptions.
The focus on video comes in response to global podcast trends, with the company highlighting that more than 250 million users have already watched a video podcast on its platform and listeners' preference for content accompanied by video.
Spotify Premium subscribers will be able to view video content without ad interruptions. The platform will pay creators based on the interaction they receive from users subscribed to Spotify Premium, eliminating ad breaks in this type of content.
Spotify, which has more than 640 million users and over 250 million subscriptions, positions itself as one of the largest companies in the world for creators. During the Now Playing event, the company shared its commitment to helping content creators grow their audiences and better monetize their video podcasts.
Additionally, Spotify is enhancing the video viewing experience and offering new tools for creators to connect with fans. One of the updates is that it will start rewarding creators based on subscriber interactions with their videos.
