Pinterest announced on Wednesday that the colors 'fresh sky blue, jade, night plum, wasabi and intense coral' are the annual selection of 'trending colors'. 'For a long time, the safest option was to keep everything discreet and neutral. Now people want more,' notes Xanthe Wells, global vice president of creativity at Pinterest, in a statement. The social network indicates that people 'are looking for colors that have emotional utility; tones that help them stay grounded amidst the chaos, but with optimism for the future'. Regarding the methodology, Pinterest arrived at this data by analyzing 'billions of searches and saves from its 600 million users to identify which colors are gaining momentum globally'. 'Our advanced visual language models decode that information on a large scale, analyzing not only individual colors, but also how they appear together in different categories,' the company states.
