American automaker Chrysler, part of the Stellantis group, has issued a massive recall affecting more than 320,000 plug-in hybrid Jeep vehicles in the US due to a battery defect that could cause fires. Regulators have advised owners to take immediate precautions: park their vehicles outside, away from any structures, and refrain from charging them until a permanent solution is identified. The recall includes 228,221 Jeep Wrangler models from 2020-2025 and 91,844 Jeep Grand Cherokee models from 2022-2026. Chrysler is aware of 19 incidents and one potentially related injury. Owners in the US will receive preliminary notification letters by mail before December 2, 2025. To check if your vehicle is included, vehicle identification numbers (VINs) for this recall can be searched on the NHTSA website starting November 6, 2025. Owners in Argentina are also advised to contact official Jeep dealers to see if this recall campaign extends to their market.
