American authorities reported that the number of unemployment benefit applications decreased last week, indicating a lack of new layoffs. Specifically, the number of applications for unemployment benefits decreased by 12 thousand, reaching a total of 375 thousand.
This indicator, which has come in lower than expected values, suggests that the labor market in the country is stabilizing after facing serious difficulties caused by the pandemic. However, despite this decrease, experts note that the unemployment level remains high.
"Although the reduction in the number of unemployment claims is a positive signal, there are still certain problems in the labor market related to uncertainty and instability in the economy," noted one of the analysts.
Experts also emphasize that for a full recovery of the labor market, additional efforts from the authorities are needed, aimed at creating new jobs and supporting small and medium-sized businesses.
