U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the French cargo giant CMA CGM plans to invest $20 billion in the United States. "I am pleased to announce that CMA CGM is investing $20 billion in the U.S.," Trump said in the White House in the presence of the head of the French-Lebanese company, Rodolphe Saadé. The President also noted that the French group is "very enthusiastic" about this investment.
Since taking office in January, Trump has increased tariffs on imports, raising costs for entering the American market. He also affirmed that this investment is the result of "presidential election" outcomes that led to "greater guarantees."
