Trump Announces New Tariffs on Agricultural Imports

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced the implementation of new tariffs that will impact Argentine exports. Starting April 2, tariffs will be applied to the imports of agricultural products. It was also confirmed that a 25% tariff will be imposed on imports from Mexico and Canada beginning this Tuesday.

In a message directed at American farmers, Trump urged them to prepare to "start producing much more agricultural product to sell within the United States." Specific products affected by these tariffs were not specified, nor were any possible exceptions mentioned.

Additionally, starting this Tuesday, a new 10% tariff on Chinese products is planned, which would bring the total tax burden to 20% on those goods. These tariffs add to the taxes on Chinese imports exceeding $300 billion, most of which have been in effect since Trump's first term.

In another measure that will impact Argentina, new 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum were announced, set to begin on March 12. Furthermore, in February, the president announced the implementation of "reciprocal tariffs" aimed at countries that impose taxes on American products or establish trade barriers deemed unfair by Washington.

This measure will primarily affect the European Union and other nations, although a specific date for its application has not yet been set. The tariffs on foreign products will take effect on April 2.
