The President of the USA Donald Trump has announced the start of sales of a new type of residency visa, called the "Trump Gold Card," for five million dollars. Trump told journalists: "We will sell the gold card, you have a green card, and this is the gold card, and for this card, we will set the price at least five million dollars." He added: "Wealthy people will come to this country by purchasing this card... They will be rich, they will be successful, spending a lot of money, paying a lot of taxes and hiring a lot of people."
The president explained that the sales of these cards are expected to begin in two weeks. He stated: "This is an analogy of the green card, but at a much higher level of development," noting that this "Gold Card" will allow its holder to obtain American citizenship on a long-term basis.
The program is not unique to the USA since the country already implements the EB-5 program, allowing foreigners to obtain a residence visa in exchange for certain investments in the country. However, the US Trade Minister Gohard Lotenik announced that the EB-5 program has had significant cases of fraud and was considered "a way to obtain a green card at a low price."
The minister began to announce that the USA will terminate the operation of the EB-5 program. It is worth noting that Trump participated in the pre-election campaign for 2024 with stricter restrictions on illegal immigration.
Trump emphasized that this "Gold Card" will allow "to attract people in the field of information technology, capable of creating jobs, people of very high level." He added: "I think companies will pay for the attraction of people" using the new card.
According to Trump, the USA could sell "a million of these cards, possibly, and more."
