Microsoft Interested in Buying TikTok

Microsoft has expressed interest in acquiring TikTok, aiming to prevent its ban in the U.S. as negotiations evolve. A group led by MrBeast has also gathered $20 billion for their bid.

Microsoft Interested in Buying TikTok

The company Microsoft would be interested in acquiring the popular video application TikTok, according to statements by President Donald Trump earlier this week. This interest arises in the context of the threat of prohibiting the application in the United States, a measure that could begin to be enforced in April if a sale to a U.S. company does not materialize.

Jesse Tinsley, a technology entrepreneur, leads a group of investors competing to buy TikTok and has managed to raise over 20 billion dollars for their bid. Among the investors in this group are executives from well-known tech companies such as Roblox and Anchorage Digital, which strengthens the submitted proposal.

Tinsley's group has emphasized that their offer is significantly higher than that of other rival buyers, especially in comparison to the Liberty Project proposal led by Frank McCourt and Kevin O'Leary, which is around 20 billion dollars. However, so far they have not received a definitive response from ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, which has previously stated that the U.S. business of the application is not for sale.

The uncertainty lies in the acceptance of the submitted proposals, as ByteDance has run out of legal options to avoid the possible prohibition of TikTok in the United States. Given this situation, negotiations to acquire the application present themselves as a competitive and rapidly evolving scenario, where it is estimated that at least 25 billion dollars would be needed to finalize the purchase.

Despite this, Tinsley has expressed confidence that his group backed by American investors could stabilize TikTok and safeguard not only user experience but also data integrity in the country. On the other hand, he clarified that the popular content creator MrBeast is not exclusively committed to this offer and that they are still waiting for a response from ByteDance regarding their proposal.
