Trump Urges Focus on AI Competition After China's DeepSeek Release

President Trump rejected that the release of the DeepSeek AI application by a Chinese company should serve American sectors signaling the need to focus on competitive struggle. He also pointed out that American companies in artificial intelligence have potentially become overly self-sufficient.

Former President Joe Biden, during his administration, implemented a broad range of export restrictions on chips and equipment for creating artificial intelligence with the hope of stunting the development of this technology in China. Trump expressed opinions that the Chinese application should awaken American companies, and added that it's good that in China they found a cheaper and faster method for artificial intelligence.

Trump also noted that Chinese leaders told him that the USA has the best researchers in the world, and if the Chinese industry can offer cheaper technology for artificial intelligence, American companies will follow this example. The White House is working on ensuring the domination of American companies in the field of artificial intelligence.

American representatives are studying the national security implications of the emergence of the Chinese artificial intelligence application DeepSeek, stated White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. A hypothesis was also put forward about a potential theft of intellectual property.

The global decline of technological actions in the panel is attributed to fears that the new Chinese model of artificial intelligence could threaten the domination of leading companies in the field of artificial intelligence, such as OpenAI and Google, belonging to Alphabet. David Sacks, responsible for artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies at the White House, stated to Fox News that it is possible that the rising popularity of DeepSeek is linked to the theft of intellectual property.

"I think that one of the aspects we will see in the coming months will be actions by leading American companies in artificial intelligence to prevent theft... This, undoubtedly, will slow the development speed of these copying models," he noted. Sacks also clarified the techniques in the field of artificial intelligence under the name of dilution, according to him, that is when one model is taught using another.

Joseph Biden is named as the appointing of Waller-Striptsky banker Howard Lutnik to the position of head of the agency, and hearing on his nomination is scheduled for tomorrow.
