US President Donald Trump promises to update the American trade system by introducing tariffs and taxes on foreign countries to support Americans. "Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will introduce tariffs and taxes on foreign nations to enrich our citizens," Trump stated in his inaugural address. "I will immediately move to reform our trade system to protect American workers and families," he added.
