The campaign of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris presented a Spanish-language cumbia song this Wednesday to attract Latino voters in key states until election day. The 30-second cumbia aims to remind Spanish-speaking listeners of the importance of voting for Kamala Harris and not making the mistake of voting for Donald Trump on November 5.
"Kamala is good people, don't fall into the trap, don't vote for the troublemaker," reads the catchy song that will be aired on Spanish-language radio stations. The campaign has allocated part of a "historic investment" of $3 million in Hispanic stations to reach this specific audience.
Harris's campaign statement noted that the song is based on efforts to engage and mobilize Latino voters in this election cycle. Additionally, it was announced that in the coming days the campaign will continue to develop its commitment to Hispanic voters in key states.
Moreover, it was reported that Latino artists will join Harris at events called "When We Vote We Win." Among the confirmed artists are the popular Mexican bands Los Tigres Del Norte, scheduled for Phoenix, Arizona, and ManĂ¡ in Las Vegas, Nevada. Puerto Rican artist Jennifer Lopez will also participate in the Las Vegas rally to explain her support for Harris's candidacy.
Harris's campaign seeks to encourage Latino communities to increase their participation in the elections. Meanwhile, Donald Trump faces criticism and backlash for a racist and anti-Latino rally held at Madison Square Garden. According to Pew Center data, it is estimated that half of the new potential voters in this election will be of Latino origin, reaching a record in electoral representation for this group. In 2024, Latinos are expected to make up 14.7% of all eligible voters.
