The President of the United States, Donald Trump, publicly supported Elon Musk by buying a new Tesla vehicle in an attempt to back the entrepreneur and counter the criticism he has recently received. This gesture came after Musk faced various challenges to his public image and certain groups of the population protested against Tesla dealerships.
In a social media message, Trump expressed his intention to purchase a Tesla to show his support for Musk. "In any case, I am going to buy a new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American", the president stated.
On Tuesday, March 11, Trump welcomed Musk at the White House, where he presented him with his new luxury red car. During the meeting, the president got into the vehicle and did a small test drive in front of the press. In his remarks, Trump praised both Tesla and Musk's work leading the Department of Government Efficiency.
Trump highlighted the quality of Tesla's products and the effort Musk has dedicated to the company, refuting the criticisms and vandalism that have affected the firm. The president described the situation as unfair, especially the drop in Tesla's stock, which is attributed in part to the imposition of tariffs.
"It's a great product, as good as it can be, and secondly, because Elon has devoted his energy and his life to doing this and I think he has been treated very unfairly," Trump pointed out during the meeting at the White House.
