On Sunday, the U.S. Secret Service announced that its agents opened fire on an armed person outside the White House after a confrontation with security personnel earlier that morning.
According to the incident, local law enforcement attempted to neutralize the armed individual, as a result of which Secret Service agents were forced to use their weapons. It is specified that following the incident, the suspected individual and a nearby security guard were hospitalized.
There has been no official statement on the condition of the injured so far, however, the fact that medical assistance was provided to them indicates that the sustained injuries required serious attention. The White House did not comment on the incident at the time.
