Final Sentencing for CJNG Leader El Menchito

On Friday, the outcome for Rubén Oseguera González, known as "El Menchito," one of the leaders of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), will be decided. On this day, he will be sentenced for drug-related offenses in the District Court of Columbia, Washington. He is expected to face a sentence that could reach up to 40 years in prison or life imprisonment.

Ruthless, dangerous, and feared, Oseguera González's fate rests in the hands of Judge Beryl A. Howell, who previously sentenced his sister Jessica Oseguera, alias "La Negra," and who will also be in charge of the case of his uncle "El Tony Montana."

The story of "El Menchito" has been long and tumultuous, with his first arrest in January 2015, followed by a period of freedom due to deficiencies in the Mexican judicial system. However, his freedom was short-lived, as he was soon recaptured for leading the CJNG. In 2020, he was extradited to the United States and was recently found guilty by a jury in a two-week trial.

The charges against him in the United States include conspiracy to traffic cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as illegal use of firearms related to criminal activities. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, "El Menchito" led the CJNG's efforts to expand its criminal empire through violent actions such as murders, kidnappings, and tortures, as well as the production of fentanyl.

Rubén Oseguera's criminal career began at a young age, influenced by his father. He has been linked to crimes such as the homicide of debtors and attacks on traffickers to force them to produce drugs for the CJNG.
