The President of the United States, Donald Trump, held a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, at the White House. During the meeting, Zelensky expressed his discontent and hatred towards Russian President Vladimir Putin, which triggered a dispute in which Trump intervened to emphasize Zelensky's feelings of animosity towards Putin.
In response to Zelensky's remarks, Trump interrupted and ridiculed his expressions, suggesting that hatred was not the way to achieve peace. The spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, warned about Zelensky’s statements, considering them threatening towards the United States, an old ally of Ukraine.
Zakharova emphasized the gravity of Zelensky's words, describing the country as a potential 'terrorist regime.' During the meeting, Zelensky also warned Trump about the problems that the United States might face in the future due to Russia, despite the geographical distance.
The Vice Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, welcomed the confrontation between Trump and Zelensky, referring to the latter disparagingly. Meanwhile, Zelensky sought to pressure Trump to maintain support for Ukraine and avoid rapprochement with Putin, whom he accused of breaking multiple agreements.
After the meeting, in which no concrete agreement was reached, Trump expressed a desire for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, although he voiced doubts about Zelensky's willingness for peace. Tension between Ukraine and Russia continues, with accusations and blame from both sides.
