Milei Meets Musk in Washington: A Symbolic Gesture

The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, met with Elon Musk, a tycoon and prominent figure in U.S. politics, during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington. In an informal meeting, Milei gifted him a chainsaw in reference to the federal spending cuts that Musk is leading in the United States.

The event took place at the Gaylord convention center and was not scheduled in Milei's official agenda, as he will actively participate in CPAC this Saturday. Musk's presence, recognized as Donald Trump's right-hand man, was a last-minute surprise for Thursday afternoon.

In a video shared by Milei through X, the enthusiastic greeting of the Argentine president to Tesla CEO Elon Musk can be seen. Although it has not yet been officially confirmed, Donald Trump is also expected to speak during CPAC.

As part of his agenda in the United States, Milei is set to meet with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, as well as deliver a speech at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) headquarters titled "The Argentine Economic Model" and meet with World Bank President Ajay Banga.

This meeting between Milei and Musk symbolizes a significant moment in Milei's political career, as he seeks to strengthen ties and explore new opportunities for international cooperation in the economic and financial sphere.
