Several business owners from Monterrey were seen at an event prior to Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th president of the United States. Among those present were executives from Cemex and Xignux.
It seems that these entrepreneurs from Monterrey have understood Trump's dynamics, as some of them radically changed their stance between 2016 and 2025. During Trump's first term, Cemex adopted a defensive posture by denying its participation in the sale of cement and concrete for the construction of the controversial wall on the border between the United States and Mexico.
In contrast, in 2025, Mauricio Doehner, executive vice president of corporate affairs, business risk management, and social impact of Cemex, stated: "Let's make North America great again!", according to The Wall Street Journal. During the event in Washington D.C., Cemex committed to investing between $4 billion and $6 billion in the United States over the next five years, aimed at maintaining its facilities and acquisitions.
On the other hand, Xignux highlighted its growth in the three locations it has in the United States, where it employs 1,900 people. Other business owners present in the U.S. capital were Juan Carlos Zuazua from VivaAerobus and Carlos Álvarez de Alba from Remed, a company dedicated to railway services, among others.
