The police arrested about 30 people on Monday on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle after they occupied a building on the university's campus at the invitation of student organizers supporting Palestinians, the university reported.
One of the student organizers of the action, coming out of Palestine, said: "We are holding an action in support of the Palestinian people and protesting against the violence committed against them. We demand an end to the aggression."
Demonstrators, supported by student groups and activists, stated that their actions are aimed at drawing attention to the situation in Palestine and calling for changes in U.S. politics regarding the conflict in the Middle East.
State police, having arrived at the university, demanded that the demonstrators leave the building. They refused, and then an action began to detain the activists. According to reports, those detained will be presented in court.
