US Border Czar urges undocumented immigrants to leave the country

Tom Homan, the White House's border czar, has asked undocumented immigrants in the United States to 'go home.' 'Leave the country on your own and try to return through a legal program, because otherwise we're going to have to find you, we're going to have to hunt you down and we're going to have to deport you,' he stated. Homan also noted that deportations have surpassed 600,000 so far this year. Homan sharply criticized jurisdictions with policies designed to protect immigrant communities—known as sanctuary laws—that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. 'Sanctuary cities slow us down… they are less efficient and they are dangerous,' he affirmed. 'This is the most humane thing that you can do,' Homan said from San Diego, near the border with Mexico. At a press conference held in front of the border wall alongside the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Rodney S. Scott, Homan defended the Trump administration's results as of the end of 2025, calling the current situation 'the most secure border in the history of this nation.' According to the border czar, the U.S. has achieved record-breaking numbers in fighting illegal immigration. 'So do the right thing and go home,' he added. Homan stressed that there are legal impediments that will prevent them from returning to this country.
