Historic Drug Bust in Salem: Sinaloa Cartel Arrests

The U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, announced a historic seizure of fentanyl with the confiscation of 3 million pills and other drugs such as methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine. As part of President Donald Trump's fight against this synthetic drug, Bondi warned that they will not negotiate with those involved in drug trafficking that are killing American citizens.

In an operation where 16 members of the Sinaloa Cartel were also arrested, a network that was distributing drugs illegally in the United States was dismantled. Among the detainees is Alberto Salazar, a key member of the organization, who had been deported twice to Mexico but continued his criminal activities in U.S. territory.

Authorities have intensified their efforts against fentanyl trafficking, a substance responsible for the death of 75,000 Americans each year. It has been reported that most of this seized fentanyl comes through the border with Mexico, which has led to accusations against Mexican cartels of flooding the U.S. market with this dangerous drug.

The success of this operation against the Sinaloa Cartel was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), along with local and state agents. Pam Bondi emphasized the importance of this victory in the fight against drug trafficking and fentanyl, labeling this substance as a "weapon of mass destruction" that has caused the death of thousands of people.

In a context where drug overdose deaths continue to rise, U.S. authorities have reinforced their stance of sending those responsible for trafficking these substances to prison, instead of opting for their deportation. Bondi stated that the detainees will face long sentences in U.S. prisons, with Alcatraz mentioned as a possible location for their incarcerations.
