Elon Musk and the Legacy of Nikola Tesla

Elon Musk, a renowned entrepreneur and visionary, has been responsible for bringing recognition and notoriety to inventor Nikola Tesla. Marc Seifer, author of "Wizard: The Life and Times of Nikola Tesla," highlights that Musk has elevated Tesla's name to the popularity it deserves.

Born in South Africa, Musk began his journey by founding Zip2 and later X.com, which would later merge with Confinity to create PayPal. Musk faced difficulties acquiring the rights to names related to Tesla, as in the case of Tesla Motors, for which he had to shell out $75,000.

Initially, Musk considered naming the company after another inventor, Faraday, due to complications in obtaining the domain Tesla.com. After negotiations, the company acquired the domain for $11 million. Musk described this purchase as a process that required significant effort.

Nikola Tesla, a believer in the mental power that comes from God, inspired Musk to rescue his name and legacy. The company founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning at Tesla received the necessary boost when Musk invested in it, becoming the CEO in 2008.

Tesla Motors, a famous manufacturer of electric vehicles, solar panels, and batteries, bears the name of the Serbian inventor Tesla. His contributions revolutionized the field of electricity, particularly highlighted by the development of alternating current, which allowed for significant savings on monthly electricity bills.

In contrast, Thomas Edison, Tesla's rival, resorted to violent and cruel methods to try to demonstrate the dangers of alternating current, as opposed to the direct current he promoted. Nikola Tesla, a visionary genius ahead of his time, left an indelible legacy in the field of technology and science.
