Three Killed in Shooting at Rhode Island Ice Rink

Three people were killed and three others were injured in a shooting at an ice rink in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA, with one of the deceased being the attacker, police reported.

According to Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves, the shooter took their own life after the attack. Officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena, where a hockey event involving students from several schools was taking place.

The venue was full of students and parents at the time of the shooting. Preliminary findings suggest the shooter fired at their own family members, and among the dead is a young girl.

The three injured with gunshot wounds are in a hospital, while the schools involved confirmed that all students have been accounted for.

Meanwhile, officials are monitoring the situation and coordinating plans for the safe reunification of families. Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee stated that state police are working with local authorities. "I will be praying for Pawtucket and all involved," he said in a post on X.

This shooting is the most recent incident of gun violence causing widespread concern in the state. In December, a shooting at Brown University also left several dead and injured.
