A man from Texas was sentenced by an American court to 18 years in prison for making his daughter jump into a bathtub at a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius as a punishment. The girl, his adopted daughter, Jaylin, was eight years old when she died as a result of this incident. 48-year-old Daniel Schwartz from Odessa admitted to being guilty of the unintentional murder of his daughter in a court hearing regarding the case of the girl's murder, the district attorney's office in Ector announced in a statement published by the "USA Today" newspaper.
"On August 29, 2020, law enforcement responded to a medical situation involving an 8-year-old girl," the statement said. "The investigation later revealed that Daniel and his wife Ashley had forced their daughter to jump into a bathtub for an extended time without food or water as punishment, when "the surface temperature of the bathtub was approximately 43 degrees Celsius at that time."
Last week, Schwartz pleaded guilty to a previously presented charge and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. His wife was found guilty of murder on May 1, 2023, and she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
