The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has ordered bombings against the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) in the Golis mountains, north of Somalia, where several members of the organization are reported to have died without any civilian casualties being recorded.
In a statement, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized that this action has degraded the IS's capability to plan terrorist attacks, sending a clear message of determination from the United States. Trump, for his part, stressed that these precise bombings targeted a high-ranking IS official and other terrorists recruited by him in Somalia, who were found hiding in caves.
"The bombings destroyed the caves where they were hiding and eliminated many terrorists, without causing any civilian damage at any time," Trump declared. The President also underscored that this operation aimed to neutralize a direct threat to the United States and demonstrate his administration's determination in the fight against terrorism.
Trump claimed victory for the success of this mission, pointing out that U.S. forces had been pursuing this high-ranking IS official for years, a task that, according to him, had not been completed swiftly under the previous administration. In this regard, he reaffirmed his commitment to find and neutralize those who threaten national security and send a strong message to those seeking to attack Americans.
