Local officials reported that the rain did not slow down the forest fires that ignited at the border of New York and New Jersey yesterday. Strong winds contributed to the spread of the fire. The fire in the Hadley Park area engulfed primarily five thousand acres of land, located approximately 30 miles northwest of New York City. Local police reported on the victims, including one person.
Official representatives from the Parks Administration stated that the fire was managed to be contained by only 20%, noting that part of the zone of extinguished forest fires is located in New York, while another part is in New Jersey. They emphasized that last night’s rain provided some relief to the firefighting brigades.
On the other hand, strong winds in California threaten to ignite large-scale forest fires. It should be noted that forest fires in California are quite widespread, but they are unusual for the eastern part of the country.
