Following the January 1st attack in New Orleans, classified as a terrorist act, additional security measures have been implemented in the city. Eric DeLaune, special agent in charge of National Security Investigations in New Orleans, mentioned that plans and strategies have been reviewed to ensure safety at upcoming events, including the possible attendance of President Donald Trump at a game.

In response to the threat of a terrorist attack, both visible and undercover tactical teams will be deployed in the city. Elements such as the ISIS flag and improvised explosive devices found at the scene have alarmed authorities. In light of this, efforts are being made to protect New Orleans' reputation as a safe and joyful tourist destination, especially ahead of the NFL championship game.

DeLaune emphasized that the security measures for Super Bowl 2025 involve collaboration among local, state, and federal agencies, coordinating ground, water, and air operations to protect residents and tourists. The deployment of armed officers on the city’s iconic streets, such as Canal Street and Bourbon Street, aims to ensure the safety of all event attendees.

The operation includes the use of advanced technology, such as a high-precision X-ray machine to detect weapons, explosives, and contraband in the Superdome perimeter. Additionally, the constant presence of police vehicles on the streets, drones, tactical units, and dogs trained in explosive detection reinforces security at different points in the city.

Surveillance also extends to the Mississippi River, where the U.S. Coast Guard will patrol, and to the inspection of vessels by Customs and Border Protection. By air, the Transportation Security Administration will deploy canine units at airports and transportation stations to prevent potential threats.

Authorities have adjusted their security strategies following the January 1st attack, maintaining a visible and discreet presence at various points in the city. With an expected arrival of 125,000 fans at Super Bowl 2025 and the possible attendance of President Donald Trump, security measures have intensified to ensure a safe environment during the event.
