Argentine Journalist Describes Life in US Prison

BUENOS AIRES, Feb 15 (NA) -- After regaining his freedom and hours before embarking on his return to Argentina, sports journalist Quique Felman broke his silence and shared exclusive details about the 12 days he was detained in the United States, surprising listeners with his description of the unusual comforts he had inside the prison. According to the Argentine News Agency, the reporter was held at the Metro West detention center, located in Miami-Dade County, after being charged with alleged fraud against the Las Vegas casino Resort World. Far from the image of a traditional cell, Felman recounted that he remained in a pavilion shared with about 80 people, all located in bunk beds, but with access to technological and gastronomic benefits unthinkable for a South American prison. "I was induced to participate in financial decisions and operations that I did not fully understand and that were part of a scheme that harmed me greatly," he defended himself. With the case already closed, Felman highlighted that he collaborated at all times with the American authorities to clarify the misunderstanding. "I am here to face the music," he said. "They gave us three meals a day, hot water, a public telephone, the possibility of ordering food, and also a tablet where I could listen to music, watch movies, or talk on the phone," the journalist detailed, exposing a level of connectivity and comfort that strongly contrasted with his situation of confinement.
