The son of the former Morena governor of Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón Cadenas, Andrés Escandón Attiq, was elected as a member of the Republican Party in District 19 of Miami, Florida, in the United States. He himself reported this achievement on his social media, expressing his honor for being elected to this position after running for the Miami-Dade Republican committee on March 24.

On his social media, Escandón Attiq shared his participation in a Republican Party event during Women's History Month, where he coincided with former Alaska governor, Sarah Palin. Additionally, he highlighted the support received from prominent members of the Miami-Dade Republican Party, such as Senator René García and the mayor of Hialeah, Esteban Bovo, Jr.

On the other hand, his father, Rutilio Escandón Cadenas, current Consul General of Mexico in Miami since December 2024, has had an extensive political career in Mexico. Rutilio Escandón served as governor of Chiapas from 2018 to 2024, senator of the Republic for Chiapas in the legislatures from 2000 to 2006, federal deputy in the LX Legislature from 2006 to 2009, and president of the Superior Court of Justice of the State of Chiapas from 2013 to 2018.

Andrés Escandón Attiq, born in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, has spent most of his life in the United States due to his dual nationality. Having been naturalized as an American citizen, he had previously expressed his support for the political ideals of Donald Trump and his sympathy for the Republican Party.

In a message on his Facebook account, Andrés Escandón Attiq declared his commitment to growing the party, winning elections, and defending the United States following his official appointment as a member of the Republican Party in District 19 of Miami.
