Centro Español Presents 'Hambre' in Miami

The Spanish Cultural Center of Miami (CCEMiami) is presenting in Miami, as part of its Microtheater on Tour project, the play 'Hunger'. The production, directed by Eugenia Sancho, immerses the audience in the depths of baroque marginality through the poetry and picaresque novel of the Spanish Golden Age.

The theatrical proposal seeks to explore the history of Spain from a hungry perspective, showcasing the harshest and most heartbreaking aspects of society during that time. The play delves into themes such as poverty, inequality, and the struggle for survival in a context marked by scarcity and injustice.

According to Eugenia Sancho, the production's director, "'Hunger' is a scenic reading that aims to transport the viewer to a crucial moment in Spain's history, where misery and hunger were an everyday reality." Through baroque narrative and the actors' interpretations, the aim is to convey the rawness and intensity of a society marked by need and desperation.

The play promises to immerse the audience in a unique theatrical experience, where the combination of poetry and picaresque novels with the social reality of the time creates an environment charged with emotions and reflections. 'Hunger' is an opportunity to delve into the Spain of the Golden Age through a raw and honest look at the lives of those who struggled to survive in a hostile and ruthless environment.
