Jared Kushner, son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, is currently away from the political spotlight and dedicated to his private equity firm, Affinity Partners, based in Miami, Florida. During the 2016 campaign and Trump's first term, Kushner played a crucial role in the relations between Mexico and the United States, working to maintain diplomatic relations despite the frictions generated by issues such as the border wall.
Currently, Kushner has focused on his business activities and has managed to secure an additional $1.5 billion for Affinity Partners from the Qatar Investment Authority and the Abu Dhabi-based asset manager Lunate. He has also extended the term of his debut fund until 2029 and has become involved in promoting a luxury hotel project in Belgrade, Serbia.
During the USMCA negotiations in 2018, Kushner played a crucial role alongside then-Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Luis Videgaray. This collaboration was so significant that Kushner was awarded the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest honor Mexico grants to a foreigner. Recently, it was revealed that Videgaray has also joined Affinity Partners, taking charge of the implementation of corporate governance at the firm.
Videgaray has participated in various investments, such as acquiring a stake in the Israeli company Grupo Shlomo and injecting funds into the German company EGYM. This partnership between Kushner and Videgaray has transcended the limits of politics and has strengthened in the business realm, consolidating their joint work in the international investment sector.
