Squirrel Accused of Causing Internet Outage in US Government Offices

Authorities in Medina County, Ohio (USA), have accused a squirrel of causing phone and internet outages at several government offices in the county. Officials in Medina County stated that the outage, which disrupted phone and internet services in government facilities, including the prosecutor's office, was initially believed to be caused by contractors accidentally cutting underground fiber optic lines. However, County Director Matt Springer revealed during a commissioners' meeting last week that the real cause was a squirrel that built a nest inside the fiber optic network and chewed through several lines. Springer said during the meeting: "It's hard to believe such things." He told UPI that they are working with internet service providers and local fiber optic networks to take steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
