Fatal Plane Collision in Marana, Arizona

Two single-engine planes collided while flying at an airport in Arizona, resulting in the deaths of at least two people on the morning of Wednesday, February 19, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The crash site is located about 30 miles northwest of Tucson International Airport, the largest in the area.

Marana Regional Airport, where the collision occurred, lacks an air traffic control tower, which is scheduled to be built in 2027, according to project information on its website. The two planes were carrying two passengers each at the time of the incident.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced the opening of an investigation into the air crash between a Cessna 172S and a Lancair 360 MK II near Marana, Arizona. The planes collided around 8:25 AM local time near Marana Regional Airport, according to the FAA.

In January, another air accident took place at Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington, United States, where a plane and a helicopter collided. The aircraft involved, an American Airlines Bombardier CRJ700, was on a flight arriving in Washington from Wichita, Kansas. The airport remained closed for several hours following the incident.

Additionally, two days later, another air accident was reported in Philadelphia. In this case, a girl being transported home to Mexico by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance suffered a fatal accident during the flight. The six people on board the plane were of Mexican nationality.
