The goalkeeper Carlos Moreno, summoned for the Mexican National Team's duel against Canada at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood (California, United States), risks missing the match due to a problem with his documents. Moreno was selected by the head coach Javier 'Vasco' Aguirre as the third goalkeeper, alongside Ángel Malagón and Raúl 'Tala' Rangel. Guillermo 'Memo' Ochoa was excluded this time.
According to reports from Fox Sports Mexico and ESPN, Carlos Moreno had issues with his visa, as his document had expired and was recently renewed. It was expected that the 'Tuzos' goalkeeper would already be in the United States to join the Mexican team's concentration with other key players.
If Moreno fails to arrive in California on time, Mexico would only have two goalkeepers for the match, as no replacement can be made unless there is an injury. Ángel Malagón could be the starter against Canada.
Javier Aguirre has expressed his interest in evaluating Moreno, as he is selecting players to represent the team heading to the 2026 World Cup. Although the coach's preferred goalkeepers are Malagón and Rangel, he does not rule out the participation of Memo Ochoa, indicating that the chosen ones will be those who are in their best form.
The list of summoned players for the match also includes other prominent players from different clubs. The Mexico vs. Canada match will take place on Thursday, March 20, at SoFi Stadium at 8:30 PM, and will be broadcasted by Televisa (Channel 5) and TV Azteca (Channel 7). The United States will play their semifinal against Panama at the same stadium earlier that day.
