Richard Lee Tabler Executed After Apology

Richard Lee Tabler, 46 years old, was executed by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas. Tabler was convicted of double homicide, as well as the deaths of two women, after being arrested in November 2024 for the murders of two men in 2007.

According to authorities, Tabler lured Mohamed-Amine Rahmouni and Haitham Zayed to a parking garage under the pretense of selling them cheap music equipment, but he shot them with a borrowed gun and was arrested days later. He later confessed to his involvement in the murders of the two women, Tiffany Dotson and Amanda Benefield, during his statement without knowing he was being questioned about the murders of the men.

Before his execution, Tabler addressed the families of his victims expressing his remorse. His last words were an apology and hope that one day they find a way to forgive him. He stated that his act of asking for forgiveness was the beginning of his path to heaven and thanked the warden of the penitentiary. Eyewitnesses claimed that the man showed remorse and regret before his death.

“I had no right to take their loved ones away, and I ask and pray that one day they find forgiveness in their hearts,” Tabler mentioned. Adding, “No amount of apologies in the world will bring their loved ones back.” These were the heartfelt words of a man convicted of heinous crimes who faced his destiny with sorrow and regret.
