In the park of West Virginia, USA, residents and wildlife experts were shocked by a video of an unknown creature roaming the area. American Britani Keller recounted that on October 24, while heading to work, she noticed an unusual animal with dark fur and a long, extinct tail resembling a raccoon in Ritter Park in Huntington. The video captured by Keller shows a strange brown and white creature moving through the park.
Britani Keller told the WSAZ 3News channel: "When I stopped to take a closer look, I realized that I was seeing something unusual here." When she asked local residents about the creature, they were also puzzled.
Most people on social media suggested that it was a lemur. However, Andy Maki from the Center for Wildlife Research dismissed this theory, saying that lemurs cannot be found in West Virginia as they inhabit Madagascar, located 9,000 miles from this location, unless it was a lost domestic animal. Maki added: "A lemur from Madagascar is found on an island, so it would be very strange if it came to this area, unless someone raised it as a pet."
Maki also attempted to debunk conspiracy theories, stating that "it looks more like a raccoon or some other health-related issue than a lemur." Sarcoptic mange is an infectious disease that affects animals with fur, often leading to hair loss, which might explain the strange appearance of the creature.
